Development of initial reading literacy at the disadvatages areas

Master's thesis deals with the initial reading literacy of pupils, who live in a disadvantaged area. The goal is to determine, which factors affect their reading literacy, both negatively and positively. And which methods and procedures are convenient during the lesson. The theoretical part contains four chapters. The topics are: disadvantaged area, Roma and their relationship to education, methods of initial reading, pre-school preparation and preparatory class. In practical part, the goal is to find answers to three research questions. And that in the form of interviews with teachers, who teach at school in disadvantaged area. Second form are case studies of specific pupils. It was possible to find answers to two research questions. How is it with Roma pupils with initial reading literacy? Due to the unstimulating environment, the pupil's reading literacy is almost zero, until he starts going to elementary school or the preparatory class. Pupils are often enrolled in nursery school, but unfortunately attendance is often very poor. What factors are the most influential, in terms of reading literacy of pupils from disadvantaged area? ABSTRACT: This thesis is focused on the reading literacy issues of pupils with other mother tongue in primary education. The aim of this work is to analyse and describe the contemporary state of reading literacy skills of pupils with other mother tongue in inclusive education context. The foreigners children have to overcome the social and cultural differences as well as the language barrier. In order to be successfully included into the education system, and consequently into our society, the pupils need to learn Czech language at the best level they are able to. The structure of this work is divided into two parts - the theoretical and practical one. There were quantitative and qualitative methods used in the research. The individual aims of this work were analysed, processed and discussed based on the results of the two research phases and description of good practice examples from Finland. Development of Reading Literacy in the Context of Multiculturality

The thesis deals with part of the educational reality of schools with Polish as the language of instruction, which form the specifics of schools in the Moravian-Silesian region. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the basic concepts associated with reading literacy and presents two research projects in the field of initial reading literacy. Attention is also paid to the school and the teacher as factors in the development of children's reading literacy. Description of Polish national education with a focus on 1.-5. year of compulsory education is followed by a content analysis of school educational programs, the aim of which was to describe the form of inclusion of the subject Czech language in these documents and processing of outputs in relation to domains, resp. dimensions of learning objectives in the curriculum for the 2nd year. The research survey, which seeks to answer the question of how teachers develop initial reading literacy in Czech language lessons in the 2nd year of schools with Polish as the language of instruction, found that formative assessment and activities supporting pupils' creativity did not appear in varied teaching. The diploma thesis deals with development of the initial reading literacy in integrated thematical content (ITC). In the theoretical part, attention is paid to initial education, its definition, methods of teaching reading, organizational forms and evaluation. The thesis briefly describes the development of integrated thematic teaching, explains its concept and important components, and it also describes the use of this teaching technique in the 1st grade of primary schools, especially in the first years of studies. Another part of the work is focused on the personality of the pupil of younger primary school age, on his cognitive and social prerequisites for successful entry into school. The research part is implemented through several methods, where I tried to obtain a wider range of data for the use of integrated thematic teaching in the development of initial reading literacy. Didactic aids for the development of initial reading literacy

The thesis focuses on the work with didactic aids for initial reading literacy. It is divided into theoretical and empirical parts. The theoretical part is divided into two parts. The first part describes what early literacy is, lists and describes methods of teaching early reading, stunted readers, developmental learning disabilities, assessment of instruction, and typical errors in early reading. In the second part of the theoretical part, didactic resources, both material and non-material, and teaching aids are listed and described. The empirical part is divided into three parts, in the first part the aim is to verify the functionality of the produced aids and to find out their effectiveness, the produced aids for the selected school are described and then they are verified with students. In the second part, the aim is to produce didactic aids for early literacy and thus inspire other teachers, the produced aids for early literacy are described and further innovations are devised for them. Phonological abilities of preschool children

The presented diploma thesis is focused on a special pedagogical topic and deals with the phonological abilities of preschool children. The diploma thesis is structured into theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part the reader is introduced with the characteristics of preschool children, principles of the school education system in the Czech Republic based on current legislation, the school's maturity and readiness and the diagnosis of preschool children. The work also presents various divisions of the ontogenesis of speech, language and communication and characterizes individual language levels. The work also describes the development of phonological abilities and introduces phonological abilities in the context of reading literacy. A separate subchapter is devoted to possible diagnostic tools for the diagnosis of phonological abilities and another subchapter is about the Batteries of tests of phonological abilities by Gabriela Seidlová Málková and Markéta Caravolas which was performed in the empirical part. Some major studies, published from 1996 till 2015 and dealing with the reading literacy development are introduced further. The research chapter describes the qualitative research metodology identifies research goals and hypotheses, presents the timing of the research and the research sample. The methodological recommendations based on the data analysis obtained from the survey were organized into a handbook usable for all teachers. The whole research is summarized in the final chapter, the hypothesis have been confirmed . The answer to the key question, "How is the initial reading literacy developed by the teachers in the reading instruction?" revealed that the trend in the initial reading literacy development is the gradual comprehensive development of all the reading competences levels with the emphasis on the communication skills from the first school day.
